Ten guides on foundations in the Grand Valley

Written against the soil under Grand Junction rather than against national averages. Soil series and shrink-swell ratings, irrigation hydrology, crack diagnosis, pier methods, wall repair, drainage, and the numbers behind a quote.

Where the underlying data comes from

Soil series, linear extensibility values, gypsum content and water table depths come from USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service soil survey data for the Mesa County Area. Geology and irrigation hydrology come from US Geological Survey work on the Grand Valley. Climate figures are NOAA 1991 to 2020 normals for the Grand Junction Walker Field station. The subdivision foundation requirements list comes from Mesa County Building Department publications. The soil disclosure statute is C.R.S. 6-6.5-101.

Cost ranges are our own published estimates of Grand Valley market pricing, offered as a planning aid rather than as a quote.
